Mary’s Prayer (Meditation)
MARY’S PRAYER
MEDITATION
The people I see and know
Whom you made, and chose
Have become people with heads hung low
Ages of darkness have snuffed out hope
And then, me
Whom nobody sees
Whom nobody knows
Chosen!
An unremarkable person
Marked now by grace
To carry your Light
To bear your Gift
Fear said, “run away”
Who am I for a task so great?
Then into my fear, you spoke my name
And hesitation fled like darkness before a flame
Then I remembered your steadfast love
My ever-present comfort
If you say this shall be My God
I say, be it unto me.
You promised you would come again
How I’ve waited for this day!
You’ve said the time is here, now
I ask, Lord, how?
No mystery in your mind
My God, you know
My God, you see
Miracles belong to you alone
Maker, Master, and Merciful King
Savior, Immanuel
As real and near as my very flesh
Be it unto me
Salvation, come
Light, break
Brighter than the sun
Be it unto us
Be it through me
